Transferable Skills:

Transferable skills are skills that a person has acquired through a previous situation, event or activity that can be used again in another.  Transferable skills are not confined to one particular situation, they can be used in many different circumstances in life. These are some of the transferable skills I has accumulated throughout my life. In recognition of these skills I have developed I have a better understanding of my tendencies and strongest attributes.

The ability to work in a team: I have had the pleasure of working in many different team based settings. I have played sports throughout my entire life and currently play for the Arizona State University men’s 1st side Rugby team. I have taken many courses that have put me in situations that require cooperation among team members in order to fulfill common goals.

Leadership: Going alongside my previous skill of team-work I have placed myself in positions of leadership in the past. In my competitive sports teams I have been a team captain, Club officer and member of the leadership committee. In team projects I have taken initiative in organizing goals and due dates along with progress management and motivation. I motivate and instruct my staff at work towards the results they have set as achievements.

Delegation/Mediation:  In my leadership roles I have gained the ability to equally delegate duties to fit schedules and needs. If there is a conflict, I have the ability to analyze twosides of the conflict and help reach a compromise or persuade one viewpoint that they are less efficient.

Training/Teaching: I have been a sports coach, swim instructor and have been sharing the knowledge I have gained with teammates. In doing so I have knowledge of how to demonstrate techniques, explain theories and recognize developmental processes.

Collaborating: I find that I work well on my own. But when I have a partner or when I am in a team I am able to pool ideas and expand on theirs. Our ideas become intertwined and are more detailed.
